Obituary

Ollie Margaret Jones Peyton Morrison, 97, died February 20, 2015, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born in Raymond, Mississippi, on November 26, 1917. She received the DAR Citizenship Award at her graduation from the high School in Raymond in 1935. She graduated from Hinds Junior College in 1937 and from Clark Business College in 1938.

In 1940, she married John Liston Peyton of Raymond. They lived most of their 50+ years together in Raymond where they reared four daughters. She was an active member of the Raymond High School PTA. She worked as an accountant for Jackson Infirmary, Diagnostic Clinic, Hinds County Co-op, and Hinds Junior College, and accounting office manager for Adams Egg Farm. She was a member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives and attended several national conventions. An active member of the Raymond Presbyterian Church, she claimed to have been a member of that church longer than any other living member, and was a former president of the Women in The Church organization. Bridge, tennis, and travel were some of her favorite activities. She also loved the stage and enjoyed performing.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Margaret Lynn Blake; husband, Liston Peyton; husband, Jim Morrison; and brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Helen Jones. Survivors include daughters, Jerry Agent, Mary Etta (John) Naftel, and Beth (Dale) Buckley; son-in-law, Charles (Joan) Blake; stepson, Jimmy (Tammy) Morrison; nine grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Raymond Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, with visitation at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Raymond Presbyterian Church or Hinds Community College.
