It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Nona Kay Goodwin Ware announce her sudden passing on November 6, 2024 at the age of 79.

Nona was born to Regina Williams Goodwin and J. Powell Goodwin on January 23, 1945. Spending most of her childhood in Philadelphia, MS, she graduated from Raymond High School after a family move. Nona received a mathematics degree from Mississippi College which led to a career in mathematics and computer technology. She began as a high school mathematics teacher where she treasured the gift of helping struggling students succeed. After spending time at home with her children, Nona launched a long and successful career first in the IT Department of Deposit Guaranty National Bank and then in IT at Sak's Fifth Avenue, until she retired in 2017.

Nona loved the demands and challenges of computer technology and made many lifelong friendships through her employment. Throughout her life, her engaging and spunky personality made everyone feel at ease.  Her wit and intelligence enabled her to make others laugh, and she was respected and admired by those who knew her.

Her career at Sak's afforded Nona many opportunities to visit New York City where she loved spending time both working and showing her friends and family the many sites.  The family condo in Destin, Florida was her favorite place to visit. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at the beach. The many memories made there will forever be cherished by those who will miss her so much.

Nona will be lovingly remembered by her family. Her four children are Kathlene "Kathy" Ware Cousineau (Mark), Brian Jay Ware (Allison), Edward "Eddie" Douglas Ware, and Sheila Ware Thornton (Tommy). Her grandchildren are Steven Rozina (Amber), Josh Rozina (Ashley), Reed Williams, Jarod Thornton (Jana), Michelle Cousineau, Cooper Ware, and Sarah Payton Ware. Her great grandchildren are Trace, Jackson, Savannah, Asher, Owen, and McKenzie. Nona also leaves behind her brother Joe Rice Goodwin (Maxine), nephew David Goodwin (Jordan) and niece Ginger Gage (William), along with many great-nephews, other family members and close friends.

A celebration of Nona's life will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, MS on Monday, November 11, 2024, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm and a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
