Naomi French, 86, passed away at her home on November 12, 2015. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015, from 5-7 PM at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond, MS. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Raymond, MS.
Naomi was born in Bartlesville, OK on December 10, 1928. She joined the Marine Corps shortly after high school making her the first woman in the Marine Corps from Oklahoma. She worked for the State of MS House of Representatives as a proof reader for many years retiring in the mid 90's.
She was active at her church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Raymond until her health would not allow her anymore.
Although she had no biological children, she was a mother to many especially to her niece, Helen Opiela, who lived with her most of her life. She was blessed with many friends and family. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her brothers, Emmett Hallaway of Dewey, OK, Richard Jones of Wetumpka, OK, Bill Tedford of MS; her sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Havelock, NC, Mary Kay Meisenheimer of Melissa, TX, and Mary Lou McWilliams of Muskogee, OK; her nieces and nephews, George McWilliams (Ramona) and their daughter, Amber, Margaret Mesa (Alberto) and their daughters, Leanna and Kacie, Robert McWilliams, Naomi McWilliams and her son David, Helen Opiela (Tom) and their children, Angelica, Andrew and Thomas; great nephew, Thomas Don Avery (April); great niece, Marrianne Stevens; great-grand nephews and nieces, Leo, Issac, Augustus, Kia, and Alice.
