Myra Dale Jones Childress was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on August 8, 2021.
She was born October 1, 1945 in Tutwiler, MS. Mrs. Childress graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1964 where she was a member of the dance team, The Rebel Misses. She also attended Hinds Jr. College.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Louie "Dub" Childress. They met as children at the Church of Christ in Brazil, MS where both of their families attended. They were married in 1967 at Provine Chapel in Clinton, MS and returned years later to raise their daughters. Mrs. Childress worked outside their home where she met some of her dearest friends. Her social life consisted of her family's activities such as cheering at her grandchildren's sporting games and traveling to Ole Miss Football games. Everyone was always full at Nannie's house and her grandchildren knew who cooked the best.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Sharp Jones and Gene R. Jones; and sisters, Gloria Jean Hegwood and Paulette Tyson.
Survivors include her husband, Louie "Dub" Childress; daughters, Melissa (William) Saxton, Cindy Reese of Clinton, and Amanda (William) Littlejohn of Hattiesburg; granddaughters, Laura Leigh Reese of Robert, LA, Melinda Borja of Gulfport, MS, Hanna Reese Smith of Bentonia, and Katelynn Littlejohn of Hattiesburg; grandsons, Walker and Ryan Saxton of Clinton, MS, Manning and Reese Littlejohn of Hattiesburg; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 10:00am – 11:30am. A graveside service will also be held at Jenkins Cemetery in Sumner, MS at 4pm on Thursday.
