Mildred Ann (Davis) Burt, 80, of Clinton, Mississippi slipped away to her well-deserved eternal rest, at her home, on March 14, 2017.
Born July 26, 1936, in Jackson, she is pre-deceased by her parents William Harrison Davis and Leona Martin Davis, her daughter-in-law Kathy Burt and her best friend, Shirley Nichols.
Mildred graduated from Jackson's Central High School, Class of 1954. She worked in many administrative and management positions, none more satisfying than that of property management which she enjoyed until her retirement. She had a deep-rooted Christian faith which manifested itself in selflessness and unconditional love for family and beyond.
Her faith led her to love and care for her mother, children and grandchildren without regard for her own well-being. Her home was always open to friend, family or stranger. Her children's friends were always safe and loved in her home and many over the years were adopted as her own. Whether you were related by blood or not, you may have inherited a second mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother.
It was not unusual for her to long for football season so that she could watch her Ole Miss Rebels and New Orleans Saints. Residing in a "family-divided" gave her good reason to "Hotty Toddy" and "Who Dat" on Fall weekends.
Mildred is survived by her brother Durwood "Buddy" (Martha) Davis of Brandon; children: Richard (Jen) of Joliet, IL, Donnie (Sandra) of Brandon, Karen Hall of Clinton, and Dennis of Clinton, 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Evelyn McInnis, Pat of Hospice Ministries, and the staff of Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Burt, Andy Burt, Matthew Burt, Jeffrey Roberts, Chris Corban, and Joshua Corban.
