Maurice Sr.,
Maurice Jr., And Karsyn Jefferson
February 25, 2022
Maurice Sinclair Jefferson, also known as "Budd," "Reece," or "Black Jack," was born on August 20, 1988, in Jackson, MS, to the late Robert Jefferson, Jr. and Brenda Bouldin. On February 25, 2022, he and his children, Maurice Sinclair Jefferson, Jr., 11, and Karsyn Monroe Jefferson, 6, received their angel wings. Maurice shared these two beautiful children with his best friend, Abbie Serbin. Maurice Jr., "Jr" for short, was born in Flowood, MS, on November 15, 2010, and Karsyn was born in Dumas, TX, on June 14, 2015. Though their lives seem short-lived to many, those blessed to be touched by them understand the quality of their existence far exceeds the length of time they were given.
Maurice graduated from Madison Central High School in 2007 in Madison, MS. He continued his education at Hinds Community College in Jackson, MS, graduating in 2008, earning a technical certificate in Diesel Equipment Technology. He earned his landscape irrigation license and started his own business, building on his family's existing landscaping labor and experience. Maurice took pleasure in helping his children with their studies. Jr attended Dumas Intermediate School, and Karsyn attended Hillcrest Elementary in Dumas, TX. Jr. was witty, a voracious reader who enjoyed playing basketball; and loved gaming with his friends and cousins. He also liked collecting rocks, toy sharks, and Pokémon cards. Karsyn, an adventurous, out-of-the-box thinker, eagerly gathered any loose change around the house. She loved roller skating. Karsyn also enjoyed fidget toy trading and joining in on the latest TikTok craze with her cousins. They adored spending time with GiGi and PawPaw. Karsyn loved to FaceTime GiGi every day for hours. They liked dancing like Maurice, riding bikes, and taking long walks with him.
Maurice was an avid gamer, a self-taught guitarist who could fix anything he put his hands on and cherished those around him. He was always full of life, whether he was dancing to an old blues song or recording a TikTok video with the kids, horseplaying or gaming, or simply hanging out with friends and family. His most enduring legacy is the care he took of others and making those around him feel cherished. He always made a conscious effort to create and share moments with family and friends. With his fedora hat cocked to the side and socks selected to match, Maurice had a funky sense of style and took fashion cues from no one. Known to be a person of few words, he found solace in his music, the universal language of humanity.
Maurice is survived by his mother, Brenda Bouldin of VA; brothers, Robert Jefferson III (Jamie Jefferson) of VA, Jeremy Jefferson (Lenysia Jefferson) of NV, and Darius Jefferson (DeAndra Whalen) of TX; sisters, Trimella Jefferson of VA and Cordelia Jefferson of TX; maternal grandmother, Martha Bouldin of MS; paternal grandparents, Lucille Brown (Avin Brown) of MS and Robert Jefferson, Sr. of CA; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Jr and Karsyn are survived by their mother, Abbie Serbin of TX; maternal grandparents, Donnie (PawPaw) and Stephanie (GiGi) Serbin of MS; paternal grandmother, Brenda Bouldin (Mimi) of VA; aunt, Ashlee Rydeen (Taylor Rydeen) of MS; and maternal great-grandparents, Ray and Gail Ertz of MS.
