It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew Ethan Walker, who left us too soon at the age of thirty-two (32), on Monday, October 7th, 2024. Matt was born October 29, 1991, in Flowood and resided in the Reservoir area with his wife and precious girls. He graduated from Pearl High School and then played baseball at Hinds Community College.

Matt left behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, devotion, and humor. Matt loved baseball, hunting, boating, but most of all, Matt loved his family and friends with his whole heart. Matt took great pride in being a hands-on and dedicated dad and he prioritized his family above all else. Matt was a man who stepped up when times were hard and whose support was unwavering for his loved ones.

Matt never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He had a way of looking out for people and making everyone feel at ease.  Whether he was spending time with his friends, supporting his family, or pursuing his passions, Matt was always focused on making sure no one was left out. Matt was a crane operator at Nucor Steel and loved his work family.  He attended church at The Way in Brandon.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Tanner Aby Walker, and his two beautiful daughters, AbyGail Walker and Madelyn Marie Walker; mother, Shellie Steele; grandfather, Robert Steele; step-mother, Carrie Walker; Sisters, Ariel Phillips, Samantha Walker Polk (Josh), and  Lexi Walker Garver (Mitchell); father-in-law, Trey Aby; brothers-in-law, T.J. Aby (Amanda), Justin Aby (Raeven), C.J. Aby (Lilly), and Palmer Aby; and his sister-in-law, Taylor Shows.  Matt is also survived by ten nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Kelly Walker, and his mother-in-law, Heather Aby.

Matt leaves behind not just his immediate family, but also countless friends and relatives whose lives were enriched just by knowing him. Matt's legacy will carry on through his two daughters.

The visitation will be held at the Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m.  Burial at Lakeland Place will immediately follow the service. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Matt's life.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
