Mary Glynn Williams Lancaster's Obituary
Mary Glynn Lancaster, 94, of Bolton passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 10, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at her home in Bolton, 302 Gearhart Drive. The service will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church in Bolton on Monday, November 11, at 11:00 am with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. The officiant will be Pastor Matthew Hall. Pallbearers will be Whit Kendall, Joel Kennedy, Don Lancaster, Charles "Chuck" Lane, Joe Maury, and Joe Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Alford, Ray Boyd, Doug Beard, Dan Mashburn, and Robert Mashburn.
Mary Glynn was born in Bolton, Mississippi, on July 1,1925, to James Harold Williams and Mary Elverdie Noel Williams. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, C D Lancaster, Jr., daughter Michele Lancaster Thurman of Columbus, Georgia, and son Charles David Lancaster and his wife Angela of Clinton, Mississippi. She is survived by six grandchildren Stephanie Thomas (Joe), Cortney Maury (Joe), Katherine Kennedy (Joel), Chad Lancaster, Clare Lancaster, and Rebecca Jackson (Ethan). She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren Lucy Lancaster, Mary Kate Kennedy, Victoria Linares, Izzy Maury, Ford Kennedy, Gabriel Linares, Emersyn Lancaster, Emma Thomas, Dalton Thomas, Jack Kennedy, and Molli Jackson.
Mary Glynn lived a full life. She loved to read, play bridge, play games with her grandchildren, travel, garden, and loved her cats. She was a music major at her beloved alma mater, Mississippi State College for Women. Music was an important part of her life. She served her church for over 60 years, directing the choir and playing the organ and piano. She taught public school music at Bolton and Timberlawn Elementary schools.
The family would like to thank all those who helped care for her these last few years, especially Molly McCray and Tangela Fulwiley, and to Hospice for their care and compassion the last few weeks of her life.
