February 24, 2018, Mary Ann Underwood Todd, of Flowood, MS, departed her physical life to begin her Spiritual life with our Savior while at the Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. She was Born August 25, 1937 at the Jackson Infirmary, which is now St. Dominic's Hospital. Mary Ann attended Power Elementary, Bailey Junior High School, and then graduated from Central High School in 1955. She attended college at Stephens College in Columbia, MO, graduating in 1957. Mary Ann continued her studies while attending Louisiana State University where she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma, social sorority. In 1957, she became a member of the Debutante Club of Mississippi.
Mary Ann was involved with various charities and organizations. Most notably, she served on the Junior League of Jackson and volunteered for the MS Methodist Rehab Center. Mary Ann worked for Harkins Florist for many years while later pursuing a career with the Federal Government where she retired.
She is preceded in death by her Father, Edmiral (Dick) Fair Underwood and Mother, Almeida Frances Hollingsworth Underwood. Her Grandparents, Chester Rhea and Florence Fair Underwood of the former Knox Glass Co. in Flowood, MS and Dr. Albert and Verna (Parker) Hollingsworth of Terry, MS. Brother Edmiral (Ed) Fair Underwood, Jr.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband, Thomas (Tom) G. Todd; three daughters, Virginia Ann Whitfield, of Brandon, MS; Fair Culpepper (Joel), of Brandon, MS; and Valerie Puckett (Duke), of Magee, MS; grandchildren, Dale Lofton, II (Jen), Amanda K. Thompson (BJ), Nikki Matthys, Kaylee Strawder, Laurie Hill, Meagan Puckett, Bobby Puckett, II; and great-grandchildren; sister-in law, Melanie Underwood; Aunt, Mary Anna Medlin Underwood; step-daughter Melanie (Brian) Sartain and step-son Brad (Kelly) Todd.
Visitation will be celebrated Friday, March 2, 2018 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, Flowood, MS at 1:00 pm, with a Memorial Service to follow beginning at 3:00 pm. Officiating the service Rev. Dr. Ricky James.
Mary Ann was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. The commitment that was closest to her heart was the involvement in collecting contributions for the Methodist Children's Home of Mississippi. In honor of her memory, Memorial Donations may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 620 Duling Avenue, Jackson, MS 39216, for the 2018 Methodist Children's Home Contribution Fund.
