Mary Gail Morris, 76, of Jackson, Miss., passed away peacefully in Atlanta, GA on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. She was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by God, joining her beloved husband, George Richard Morris Sr.
Gail was born in Jackson, MS on October 1, 1947, to JD Williamson and Virginia Durie "Judy" Baughtman-Williamson. She attended Forest Hill High where she met the love of her life and best friend, George Morris. They married in June 1962 and again in August 1981.
In 1991, Gail graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, with a Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was also a Board Certified Registered Nurse (RN) and Certified Nurse Case Manager (CCM). In 1993, she and lifelong friend, Judy McDowell, created their own case management company, Magnolia State Enterprises. These were all defining moments of her career.
Simply, she was kind, compassionate, and had a love for people and patients.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Durie "Judy" Baughtman, and JD Williamson; uncles Jerry, Narie, and Thomas Baughtman; sister, Jeanie Newcomb Goodwin; and grandson, George Richard "Trey" Morris III.
Survivors include her sisters Delores Sebren of Richland and Gay Stacey (Bill) of Columbia, SC; brother Thomas "Burt" Kirby; beloved sons George Richard "Rick" Morris Jr., of Byram; Michael Wayne Megehee (Nancy) of Atlanta, GA and Richard "Elliott" Morris of Dallas, TX; daughter Angel Marie Laird of Pearl; step-daughter Mary Passons (Jerry) of Jackson; and grandson Chance Passons of Byram along with numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A visitation will be held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS on Sat, September 28, 2024, from 11am – 1:30pm with a celebration of life beginning at 1:30pm.
