Mary Anna Kendall Garraway died April 9, 2017. The burial service will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, April 13th at the Bolton Cemetery with a memorial service to take place afterward at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will also host friends at her home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 12th.
Mary Anna, a lifelong resident of Jackson, was born March 12, 1934, the daughter of Katherine Greaves Kendall and Theodore Hastings Kendall, Jr. She attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Newcomb College where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. In 1957, Mary Anna married Frederick "Fox" West Garraway.
Mary Anna was active in civic affairs and clubs in Jackson and formerly served as President of the Junior League of Jackson. She was a board member of Jackson Preparatory School, The Old Ladies Home, and The Gaddis Farms. She was a longtime member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church where she served on Mary Martha Guild and Meals on Wheels. Mary Anna will be remembered for her kindness to others and for being a gracious hostess.
She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by sons, Rick Garraway and his wife Eliza of Jackson, Kendall Garraway and his wife Danelle of Jackson; her daughter, Katherine Garraway Browne and her husband Billy of Jackson; grandchildren, Katie Love Garraway Owen and her husband Alston, Mary Hastings Garraway, West Garraway, Kendall Garraway, Caroline Garraway, John Garraway, and Bailey Browne Sparling and her husband John Michael; brother Ted Kendall and his wife Mary of Bolton, MS. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mae Triggs and Ruby Bates for their love, friendship and care.
