Mary Jane Dixon Fuerst, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Born September 20, 1929, in Brownsville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Isabel Drake Dixon and Chester Moore Dixon Sr. She attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where she met the love of her life, Robert J. Fuerst Sr. They shared 61 years of marriage and enjoyed traveling, Ole Miss football, playing bridge, and time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Fuerst Sr.; her parents; her son, Robert J. Fuerst Jr and grandson Jason Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Scott; son-in-law, Steve Scott; grandchildren Jeanette Springer (Michael), Joseph Johnson (Jessi), and Shawn Scott; step-grandchildren Jonathan Scott (Cindy) and Sheryl Lester; brother, Chester Dixon Jr.; nieces Deanne Stephenson (Paul) and Mary Margaret Owens; and several great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Christ United 6000 Old Canton Road Jackson, MS 39211.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to MS chapter of cystic fibrosis foundation, Christ United Jackson or a charity of your choice.
