Obituary

Mary Nell Byrd of Clinton, Mississippi, was called home to be with her Savior, on March 1, 2017. She was fondly known as "Mimi" to her family. Mimi was born in Artesia, New Mexico to Howard and Nell Byrd on April 2, 1928. She was indeed a miracle baby weighing only two and a half pounds when she was born. She grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and attended the Little Red School House. She was very active in the special needs group at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. After moving to Clinton, she was an active member of First Baptist Church, Clinton. Mimi was known for her sweet and child like spirit, always thoughtful and never judgmental about anyone. She enjoyed embroidering pillow cases and dish towels and sharing them with family and friends. She had the uncanny ability to remember everyone's birthday. Mimi will be greatly missed by the people who were fortunate enough to know her, but we rejoice that she is now whole, something she desired all her life. Little did she know that it was we who desired to have the pure qualities that she possessed. Truly we were blessed by the providential hand of God that He gave Mimi to our family.

Mimi is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Nell Byrd, her sister Joyce Byrd Ellis and brother, Charles F. Byrd. She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Wilson, of Thompson Station, Tennessee, as well as a host of many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews who adored her.

A graveside service to honor Mimi will be at 10:30am on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: dreamstreetms.org , a local camp for special needs children.
