Obituary

Mary Lee Beck was born in Jackson, MS on August 7, 1932 and died on August 9, 2021.

She was adored by her father who raised his only daughter alone. She met the love of her life in 1952 when she was 20 years old. Their courtship was short and soon they had a son and three years later a daughter. She worked for McRae's for many years starting out as a sales clerk and eventually becoming a buyer for the company which allowed her to travel quite a bit, although she preferred just a simple life. She had a green thumb and whatever she put in the ground whether it be flowers or vegetables they flourished. There were many hours spent in her kitchen canning and preserving what she grew. She loved cooking for her family especially around the holidays. Her other passion was sewing. She made beautiful garments in her younger years and later on she got into quilting and made several quilts for her family. There were many hours spent in her sewing room. She was a wonderful grandmother to her two granddaughters. One of the best things in life she taught her daughter and granddaughters to do was always take care of your family. Her first love was to her Father in Heaven and she relied on Him everyday of her 89 years on this Earth. She was a member of Bolton Baptist Church and loved her Bolton folks so much.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her father, Doniphan Bearl Basye, her son, Phillip Glen Beck, her great grandson, Andrew Edward Mitchell and the love of her life, Clarence Earl Beck, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Earline Beck Kelly and her husband, Mike, Her granddaughters, Corinne Jackson and husband, Kent and Lindsey Mitchell and husband, Austin and great grandchildren Charles and Elise Jackson and Thomas and Suzanne Mitchell. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Shirley and husband De. There will be a private family graveside service at 10AM Friday August 13.
