Martha was born in Lake Village, Arkansas on March 1, 1930 and passed away on December 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother Velna Rogers Campbell, her father Edward Sebastian Campbell, her brother Edward Rogers Campbell, and nephew Don Campbell. Martha's survivors include her sister Su Campbell McLain; nephew Mark McLain, his wife Lisa D. McLain, and their daughter Marlee; niece Melissa McLain Terry, her husband, Jerry O. Terry, Jr., and their children Sara Kathryn Terry and Owen Terry and Owen's wife, Jaycee Padgett Terry-all of Mississippi; and niece-in-law Cindy Morton Campbell, her children Robbie Campbell and Ashlee Campbell Scott, and their families-all of Texas. Martha also leaves behind loving friends Marilyn and John Disepo; Tyler Daniel, Landon Daniel, Amy Disepo Daniel, and other members of the Disepo and Daniel families.
Martha graduated from Central High School in Jackson and then studied piano and music education at Belhaven College. She taught school in Natchez, MS, and later in Texas and Louisiana. She studied organ and later, after returning to Mississippi, studied music composition with Dr. Jimmy Sclater. She studied pottery at Jackson State University and art education at Delta State University. Martha served for many years as organist at The Episcopal Church of the Creator in Clinton until her retirement.
Among her many artistic skills, she learned to make jewelry at Village Beads and showered her friends and relatives with beautiful creations. She also began painting pictures on her computer, telling the story of her childhood in her paintings.
Martha's funeral will be at The Episcopal Church of the Creator in Clinton at 11:00 am Monday, January 2, 2017, following a 10:00 am visitation at the church.
