Marjorie Lenora
White
February 26, 1925 – September 4, 2024
Marjorie Lenora Daniels White peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 4th,
2024, at home surrounded by her family.
Marjorie was born February 26, 1925, to Robert Clifton Daniels and Oneita Irene Moody
Daniels in Poplarville, MS where she spent most of her life. She was married to Marvin Ross
(Bud) White in 1945, and they were happily married for 65 years.
As a young girl, she attended school in Poplarville, as well as in Jackson, MS. She loved
to tell about attending Duling Elementary School in Jackson and would talk about her favorite
teacher, Ms. Belnap. She graduated from Poplarville High School in 1943. She attended Pearl
River Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi where she graduated with a B.S.
in Elementary Education. She taught first grade at Poplarville Elementary School for 25 years.
Marjorie loved teaching and loved her students. She always had many stories, mostly
humorous, about her adventures in teaching. Her family always thought she should have
written a book.
While living in Poplarville, she had a very active life. She was a member of First Baptist
Church, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. She was a member of Woman's Club and
served in various officer roles throughout her membership. She adored her children and was
always available to help with their activities. While her husband was serving as President of
Pearl River Junior College, she was always the gracious hostess.
After years of being retired, Marjorie and Bud moved to Clinton, MS to be near family.
She joined First United Methodist Church where she remained a member until her death. She
was a member of the Good News Fellowship Sunday school class and sang in the senior adult
choir.
Majorie loved her family so much. Her children and grandchildren brought her the
greatest joy and she was always doing whatever she could for them. She had a beautiful smile,
great laugh, and the best hugs on the planet.
She is survived by her daughter, Lyda Sue Winegarden (Pery), and son, Dr. Calvin Ross
White (Norma); her grandchildren, Lisa Winegarden Gaines (Brian), Laura Winegarden Thigpen
(Michael), Layne Winegarden Allen (Robert), Tyler White (Christen), Sara White Blair, Lisa
Brown (John), and Tim Reed (Brenna); her great-grandchildren Andrew DeYoung, Hayley

Ronk, Logyn Ronk, Rhett Reed, and Brooks Brown.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Marvin R. White, her parents, and
four siblings.
She was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed. The family would like to
extend special thanks to Dr. David Wheat and staff, Dr. Keith Thorne and staff, and her
wonderful caretakers, Christine Berry, Regina Cavett, Janice Coleman, Christine Jackson, Vergie
Jackson, Mamie Taylor, and Brenda Wilson.
