Obituary

Marion Lee Ramsey passed away on June 9, 2021 at home surrounded by family. He was attentively cared for by his wife, Lorraine Ramsey and daughter, Jane Usry as his health declined.

Marion was born at home in Kosciusko, MS to Charles E Ramsey, Sr. and Minerva Burdette Ramsey on October 8th, 1930.

He graduated from Clinton High School and went directly into the United States Army in 1948, stationed at Fort Bliss. He was restationed in New York, NY where he completed his commitments with the US Army and met his future wife, Lorraine Ramsey. They married August 18, 1952 and have been married 70 years.

Lee built their first home in Seaford, Long Island at age 21. Marion loved Lorraine's daughter, Christine, and later adopted her. A few years later after moving the family South to be close to his family, Marion and Lorraine had their first and only child together, his beloved daughter, Jane L Ramsey.

Marion was extremely industrious – while in the Army he would complete other soldiers' chores for payment and then turn around and lend them money and charge them interest. He sacrificed whenever possible so he could send a $50 bond to his parents each month. They were able to use the money from those bonds to pay for their first home that they owned. After the Army he worked his way to sales manager at Kelvinator and general manager at Appliance Distributors, owned a restaurant supply business and sold real estate.

He is proceeded in death by his father Charles E Ramsey, Sr., mother Minerva Burdette Ramsey, brothers Charles Jr. and William Ramsey, daughter Christine Vaughn, and granddaughter Amber.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine Glace Ramsey, daughter Jane Usry, and sister Rebecca Tripplet, grandchildren Harvey, Vicki, Lori, Michael, Andrea, Falan, and Lindsey, and 13 great grandchildren.
