Mamie Lou "Pat" Wood, 92, of Clinton, MS joined her loved ones in heaven on Monday, December 14, 2020 after a brief battle with COVID-19. She was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on September 30, 1928 to Jesse Cummins and Maggie Ford Cummins. She was one of seven children.
She was married to Guice P. Wood for 58 years before his death in 2007. Together they raised two daughters: Rita McCollum of Brandon, MS and Terri Hallman (Keith) of Marietta, GA. She was blessed with one granddaughter, Allison Grubbs (Carl) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is survived by one sister, Mae Gaggini of Brandon, MS and several nieces and nephews.
Pat loved all her churches but especially Midway Baptist in Jackson. For many years she and best friend Dot Chisolm joyfully hosted monthly senior adult luncheons with excellent pot luck meals and inspirational guests. She was very outgoing and extremely hard-working. Above all, she was a faithful Christian. She never tired of the old hymns.
Special thanks to Dianna Harts-Sanders and Covenant Caregivers for assisting our mom for several years.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, a private graveside service will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Clinton Cemetery. If you wish to make a memorial in her honor, please send it to First Baptist Church, 100 College St., Clinton, MS 39056 and designate it for their Homebound Ministry.
