Verla Mae Guyton Mardis Holder died on December 30, 2018 in Hattiesburg, MS.
Visitation will be held from 10am - 12pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will begin at 12pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mae Holder was born on December 13, 1921 in Mantee, MS to her parents, Morgan and Mary Guyton. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1939. Mrs. Holder was married to R.H. Mardis for 48 years. They raised three children in Clinton, MS where they resided for 40 years. Mae worked as a secretary at several business locations and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of MS.
Mrs. Holder was member of the Clinton Pilot Club. Sister Mae Holder, PM completed 75 years of active membership of the Order of the Eastern Star and received an award for this achievement. She was also a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS.
Mrs. Holder is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, R.H. "Curly" Mardis and Bill Holder; brothers, John Guyton and Marlyn Guyton; and sister, Louise Guyton Skelton.
She is survived by her three children, David (Kay) Mardis from Marietta, GA; Beth (Leslie) Steverson from Gulfport, MS; Hal (Donna) Mardis from Flora, MS; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
