Luther Calvin Bass was born in Florence, MS on May 15, 1941, and left this earth on February 21, 2025.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents Ethel Ashley and Malcom Bass, wife Norma Sandifer Bass, son Wilburn Bass, and brother Benny Frank Bass.

He is survived by his wife Alice Gorman Bass; brothers Paul (Marveen) Bass and Robert (Diane) Bass; daughters Patricia (Jerry) Weaver, Lynda Gee; sons Jon (Christy) Bass, and Calvin Bass; grandchildren Julie Henderson, Wesley Carroll, Chase (Haley) Bass, Tyler (Laina) Bass, Shelby (Jacob) Smithey, Mac Little, Zac (Emma) Little, and Abigail Gee; great grandchildren Taryn Kimbrough, Willow Bass, Tinsley Henderson, Hadley Bass, and Piper Smithey.

Luther never met a stranger and if he didn't know someone, he would find a way they were connected to someone he knew; it was his thing. He liked to serve others and never missed a chance to pick at them. He led youth mission trips to Mexico every Christmas and Summer for many years. He was a devoted Catholic at St. Mary's in Jackson and Holy Savior in Clinton, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2025 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS with visitation beginning at noon before the service. A graveside service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.

The family would like to thank his brother Robert Bass, friend John Files, Jackie Jones, Jackie Body, Ike Davis, Sharda Reese, and the other wonderful staff at Edgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation for their devotion.
