Lula M. McCombs of Jackson passed away, peacefully, at home on August 16, 2016. Visitation will be Thursday, August 18th, from 6-8 pm and Friday, August 19th, from 10 am until the 11 am funeral at Wright and Ferguson in Clinton. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial South.
Mrs. McCombs was born on April 29, 1926 in Jackson, MS. She graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1944 where she was selected Most Beautiful. She married her husband of 55 years, Herbert C. McCombs (Chicken) in 1945. Together, they raised three children and she was a very devoted, loving, and Godly mother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing with them. She loved to sew and crochet. She was the bookkeeper for the former Central Welding and Steel Works. She was a member of the former Westview Baptist Church where she was active with the children from working in the nursery to helping with Bible School. She was blessed to have her oldest son, Herbie, as her primary caregiver for the last six years and he was honored to do so.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her father, Richard Hennington, and her mother and stepfather, Floyd and Ruby McElveen.
She is survived by her children, Herbert McCombs, Monette Dodgen (Terry) and James McCombs (LuAnne); her grandchildren, Taylor McCombs (Melissa Kaye), Jamie McCombs, Clay McCombs (Laurin) and Brandee Bridges (Mark); her great grandchildren, Riley Grace Livingston and Gipson McCombs.
