Lucretia T. Frierson, 92, passed away on June 8, 2016, at Clinton Rehabilitation Center. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 10 to 12 p.m. with a funeral service to follow the visitation at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton. A graveside service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Lucretia was born on November 21, 1923 and she is a native of Jackson, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Central High School. She attended Hinds Junior College and Draughon Business College.
Lucretia married the love of her life, Pete Frierson, on May 8, 1942 and spent the next 63 years by his side until he passed away on April 25, 2005. Together they founded Frierson Building Supply and spent over 40 years serving building contractors and homeowners across Mississippi.
Lucretia was very passionate about her church, Calvary Baptist Church on West Capitol Street. She served on many committees and was a good friend to many pastors and their families at Calvary. She also taught Sunday School in the children's department for over 30 years.
She was a member of the D.A.R. and Eastern Star.
Lucretia had a great love for Mississippi College. She served as sponsor for the Lady Choc's basketball team and was a great supporter of all of the activities of the college. Lucretia and Pete were selected as Ideal Non-Alumni couple of the year in 1993.
Lucretia was a faithful woman of God, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was adored by her family and respected by all who knew her.
Lucretia was preceded in death by her husband Pete H. Frierson; her parents, Sylvester M. (DOC) Thompson and Pearl Lackey Thompson. She was an only child.
Lucretia is survived by her only child, Ginny Frierson Salter and her husband, John, of Clinton; grandson John Michael "Mike" Salter and his wife Lisa of Brandon; granddaughter Stacie Salter Brown of Brandon; great grandchildren, Scarlett Salter of Cleveland, MS, Sophie and Hayden Salter of Mobile, AL, Lisa's son, Conner Kamp, Katie and Kellar Brown all of Brandon. All who loved their "Mimi" dearly.
