Louise H
Oakes
June 10, 1936 – April 2, 2026
Louise Manship Hall Oakes, 89, of Terry, Mississippi, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
She was born June 10, 1936 in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from Central High School and attended Mississippi College. Louise always worked hard–whether in her duties at Hinds Jr. College and the City of Jackson, managing a law firm, or raising children.
Louise loved her family and found great joy in spoiling them. There are countless stories of how she made the people in her life feel special, and she was the center of numerous fun and hilarious adventures. She never tired of doing good for those in need and worked tirelessly in her church as long as she was able. Louise spent many hours shopping, flower gardening, watching birds and Hallmark mysteries, and reading.
She was preceded in death by parents J D Smith Hall and Howard Garland Hall, and sisters Nancy Berner and Martha McMillan.
She is survived by her children, William Oakes (Bing) of Byram, Mississippi, Elizabeth Oakes Menendez (George) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Robert Oakes of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her grandchildren, Libby Swafford, Lexie McNeill (Stephen), JW Oakes (Sarah), Melanie Oakes (Brian Webb), and Jennifer Oakes; and her great grandchildren, Justin, Anna, Leo, Ella Grace, Nora, Stone, River, Aubrey, Turner, Addison, Brittney, Taylor, Jayden, and Hunter.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at Lakeshore Church in Byram, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held afterwards at Raymond Cemetery.
