Linda Moore Lane, age 80, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Brandon.

Linda was born June 16, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1959 and continued her education at Millsaps College where she majored in French. She was a member of several honorary societies and graduated with honors in 1963. She completed the Master of Arts degree in French and Spanish at Louisiana State University in 1965. She began her teaching career at Mississippi College where she taught for a number of years. In the summer of 1975, she received the Doctorate of Modern Foreign Languages from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont. That fall she was named Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at Mississippi University for Women where she taught until 1990. Dr. Lane joined the faculty at East Central Community College in 1999. While at East Central, she was named Academic Instructor of the Year. She retired from teaching in 2007.

Dr. Lane was preceded in death by her parents, Chalmers and Juanita Lane and her sister, Carol Hartness Lane. She is survived by her brother, Chalmers Keith Lane, Jr. and her sister-in-law, Sherra Smith Lane.

Dr. Lane was a lifelong Methodist. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in the Fondren neighborhood in Jackson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 12:30-2:00 pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, Flowood. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm. Graveside rites will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday at the Lindsey Cemetery in Walnut Grove, Mississippi.
