Obituary

Linda Lewis Hardin Kay went to her heavenly home December 3, 2021. She was born July 19, 1940 in Vardaman, MS in Calhoun County, the daughter of Burr Fowler Lewis and Lorene Hill Lewis who preceded her in death.

Linda served on the church staff at First Baptist Church, Calhoun City, MS for 41 years as Financial Secretary/Pastor's Ministry Assistant. She loved her work, and she loved the people and the Lord whom she served. In 1997, the church honored her with a "Linda Hardin Day" at which time former pastors, as well as former church members, came to share in the day with her and her family. Linda taught Sunday school for 30 years, and also enjoyed being a visitor with the Homebound Ministry for several years.

After the death of her husband, Kenneth Hardin, to whom she had been married for 37 years Linda decided to retire and enjoy her two grandsons. Another marriage was not in her plans; however, the Lord had another plan for her life which did include another marriage. Her pastor, who had been widowed for eleven years, Dr. Anthony Kay, soon proposed marriage and they began a wonderful life together – traveling but also serving the Lord through interim pastorates throughout the state. They moved to Clinton in 2000 and had 21 good years of forming new friendships and making memories.

Things she enjoyed other than traveling were bowling, reading, working at the Clinton Visitors Center and serving as Memorial Chairman for the Library at First Baptist Church where she was a member.

Survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, Anthony Kay. Children: Kent Hardin (Lesa) of Eupora, Kathy Langworthy of Clinton, Landry Kay (Leslie) of Moss Point, and grandchildren,
Cody Hardin (Katie Leah) of Joelton, TN, Colton Hardin (Katie) of Yukon, OK, Jordan Langworthy of Flowood, Tori Langworthy Holloway (Kenny) of Clinton, Olivia Kay of Moss Point, MS and Miller Kay of Moss Point MS, Sebastian Gonzalez, Moss Point MS; one great-grand son, Danny Hardin of Yukon, Ok and one brother, Gerald Lewis (Joyce) of Madison, sister-in-law June Lewis of New Albany, Clint and Shirley Hardin of Germantown, TN (special brother-in-law & Sister-in-law), and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her first husband, Kenneth Hardin, Sr., three brothers: Aaron, William and Curt Lewis.
