Linda was born Oct. 4, 1939 at Cumberland, Webster Co., MS to E. W. and Elma Jackson Murrah. She attended school in Clarkson, MS, Baytown, TX and Centreville, MS. She graduated high school 1957 in Centreville and graduated from Draughan's Business School, Jackson MS in 1958. Linda was also Baptized at age 12 - Methodist Church, Clarkson, MS.
Linda always had the best sense of humor which she imparted to her children and family. She loved hard, laughed often and had encouraging words of sage advice. Her perseverance and attitude to always keep going no matter what happens carries us today and she famously cautioned all to "don't sweat the small stuff."

An avid reader, she also enjoyed deer hunting, the NY Times crossword puzzle, and genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She and Van visited most of the states in the U.S. They also visited Mexico, Canada and made several trips to Europe after retirement.
Linda was preceded in death by husband of 42 years Van Aubrey Evans; parents; brother, Sherrill Wayne Murrah; sister, Wanda Murrah Durossette, nephew, Barry Murrah; and former husband, Robert W. McCord.
Linda is survived by children: Robert Wayne McCord of Raymond, MS; Edward Stuart (Lynne Sarra) McCord of Spring, TX; and Steven William (Rebecca Mata) McCord of Cypress, TX; grandchildren: Cory McCord, Casey McCord Lopez, Adam McCord, Elizabeth McCord Triska, Alexandria McCord and Robert T.
