Obituary

Lewis Bond Traweek, Jr. 85, of Raymond, MS died Monday, August 14, 2017. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15th, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond, MS. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 16th at 11:00am, at Raymond United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Raymond Cemetery.
His beloved home was in Raymond. Lewis was born in Gallman, on September 14, 1931. He graduated from Hazlehurst High School in 1949 and joined the MS Army National Guard afterwards. He graduated from Hinds Junior College. He owned and operated Traweek Auto Sales & Service from more than 50 years. He was a member of the Raymond United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Master.
Lewis was an avid outdoorsman. His interest in Field Trials began in the 1950's. He was a charter member of the Magnolia State Bird Dog Association and served the club in every capacity, including President. His fellow patrons elected him President of both the Dixie Field Trial Circuit and the Region 6. His all time favorite dog was Snake Creek Warrior, who placed 2nd in the 1974 American Field Quail Futurity and won the 1974 National Amateur Invitational. Lewis judged numerous championships and countless club trials. He officiated on the Canadian Prairies at the Border International and the Saskatchewan Championships. Lewis was a goodwill ambassador for the sport, encouraging many newcomers to become involved with bird dogs and field trials.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Bond Traweek, Sr. and Sallie Mae Traweek, brother, William B. Traweek and son, Douglas P. Traweek.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Harrell Traweek, sisters, Mariella Traweek and Nancy Traweek, sons Donald (Becky), Ronnie, Kirk (Christine) and daughter, Sonya Teasley (Jay), and seven (7) grandchildren - Jessica (Alex) Zivic, Stephanie (Noble) Harpole, and Mary V. (Corey) Norwood, Preston Miller, Frank Buckley, Madison Teasley and Alex Teasley. Two (2) great grandchildren, Virginia Grace Zivic and Linley Claire Zivic.
