On Wednesday, July 17, 2018, Lewis (Lew) Jordan Pate, Jr, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years. Lew will be forever remembered by wife and best friend Shirley, and their children, Michael Pate, Sonja Pate, Jeff & Kathy Pate, and Brian & Lori Pate, and by grandchildren Sara Pate and Will Pate (Jeff & Kathy), Paul & Anna Felten, Jordan & Allison Pate, Joel & Madyson Pate, and Kyle & Amy Sellers (Brian & Lori), and great-grandchild Kennedy Felten (Paul & Anna). Lew was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Pate and Rosa Pate.
Lew was born in Roanoke, VA, where he lived until moving to Jackson, MS, in 1949. Lew attended Central High School, Alta Woods Methodist Church, served in the Mississippi National Guard, attended Auburn University, and served in the US Army during the Korean War. After returning to Jackson, he was well known and respected in the steel and construction industry. Lew was always very active in the community serving for many years as a Scoutmaster and Little League baseball coach.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 20, at 11am with visitation starting at 10am at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, 114 Burney Drive, Flowood, MS, with Pastor Steve Wilson of Meadow Grove Baptist Church officiating. A private graveside burial will follow.
