Obituary

Lester Harlis Robinson, 84, passed away April 25, 2018 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS following a courageous battle with cancer. Lester was born May 17, 1933 to Buford Elton Robinson and Lois Barrington Robinson in Baton Rouge, LA.

A memorial is scheduled on Saturday April 28, 2018 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Raymond, MS in the CLC building.

Growing up in Metairie, LA, Lester participated in football at Metairie High School, where he was an all-state wide receiver. He also excelled at track and field and held the LA state record for the 120 yard hurdles. He attended LSU on a track and field scholarship and later transferred to Southeastern Louisiana College (SLC) where he continued his track and field career. Lester graduated from SLC with a degree in Dairy Science.

On December 18, 1955 he married Norma Joyce Owen of Raymond, MS. He served two years in the U.S. Army serving his country in Germany. After discharge from the Army, he began his career with GMAC where he retired as a Finance Manager.

Lester was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Raymond serving as deacon. His passion was preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to inmates at the Raymond Detention Center, Parchman Penitentiary and Oakley Training Center.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Lois, his sister, Betty Lois DuBuc of Las Vegas, Nevada, and his son Daniel Scott Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma Joyce Owen Robinson of Raymond, his brother Charles Buford Robinson of Florence Alabama, his daughter Leslie Robinson Brawner and Bruce Honnoll Brawner of Madison, MS, and his son, Dean Owen Robinson and Judy Adams Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia, his grandchildren, Lauren Ashton Brawner Nichols and Gregory Charles Nichols of Madison, MS, Bridget Janee' Brawner Toffel and Randall Keith Toffell, III, and Bruce Honnoll Brawner, Jr. (Beau), and his great grandchild Ava Grace Nichols.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the First Baptist Church of Raymond to the Forward by Faith Fund.
