Leonard Everett
Bond
November 14, 1941 – November 19, 2025
Leonard Everett Bond, age 84, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2025.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Bond; his children Alan Bond, Galen Bond, Cynthia Woods (Paul), and Colleen Wise (Gordie); and his cherished grandchildren Devin Wise, Victoria Woods, Shannon Woods, Ashley Woods, and Conor Woods. He is also survived by his siblings Jerry McArthur (Ronnie, deceased), Lucille McQueen (W.C., deceased), Donnie Bond (Janice), and Jody Zanca (George, deceased), along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Bond and Bernice Bond, and by his siblings Hazel Smith, Johnny Bond (Linda), and Richard Bond (Ruth).
A devoted Christian man, Leonard loved God, his family, and his country. After graduating from Pearl River Central High School in 1960, he proudly served in the Mississippi National Guard. He dedicated 30 years of faithful service to the City of Picayune, retiring with the respect of his peers and community.
Known for his outgoing spirit, Leonard never met a stranger—he could make a friend anywhere he went. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, and he later took great pride in serving as an umpire. He found joy in watching westerns, traveling with his family, and sharing stories from his remarkable life. One of his most treasured memories was a mission trip to Alaska, where he fulfilled a lifelong dream by catching a halibut.
A faithful servant in his church, Leonard volunteered for many years, serving coffee, helping with Vacation Bible School, and offering his time wherever it was needed. His life was marked by kindness, service, unwavering faith, and a deep love for others. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
A graveside service will be held at First Baptist Church of Carriere Cemetery on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
