Lena Katherine
Bolling Mabry
April 5, 1929 – July 25, 2024
Lena Katherine Bolling Mabry, 95, passed away peacefully at home in the company of her children on Thursday, July 25, 2024, following a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29 from 9-11AM with service at 11AM at Wright and Ferguson in Clinton. A graveside service will immediately follow at Lakewood South Memorial Park on McCluer Road in Jackson.
Katherine "Kat" was born April 5, 1929 and grew up in Goodman, Mississippi. She married James Abraham Mabry July 11, 1947 after he completed service with the US Navy. They reared three sons in Jackson, Mississippi: James, Maxie, and Sidney. Katherine worked 30 plus years in the customer service department at Allstate Insurance before retiring. She was a long time member of Alta Woods Methodist Church.
Kat and James spent countless hours at baseball parks all over Mississippi in their free time. From watching their sons to watching their grandsons and great grandsons, baseball was their favorite hobby. They made many friends through baseball, several of whom remained friends for many years. After James's passing in 2006, Kat continued attending baseball games regularly, as health allowed. When she wasn't watching a game from the bleachers, she could often be found at home watching the New York Yankees.
In addition to baseball, Kat thoroughly enjoyed working in her yard. She and her dear friend, Miss Julia Hill, spent many hours together outside watering the flowers, picking the flowers, and moving the flowers. The two of them made a great pair.
Kat was preceded in death by husband, James; son, Maxie; parents, Maggie Luicelle Harman and Otto H. Bolling.
Survivors include sons, James (Leslie) and Sidney; daughters-in-law Nina and Sallie; six grandchildren, Alex (Katie), Austin (Andrea), Anna, Casey (McLaine), Zoe, Jason (Dana); six great grandchildren, Tyler, James, Jonah, Norah, William, and Charlotte.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alta Woods Methodist Church.
