Obituary

Laura Lynn Criscoe Jones went into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Dec. 20, 2022.

Laura was born July 26, 1944 in Brookhaven, MS to Ralph and Edith Criscoe and was the youngest of their three children. She loved Jesus from a young age and walked with her Savior, praying faithfully all her life.

Studying at Asbury College in Kentucky and later graduating from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, Laura earned a degree in religious education in 1966. She toured the Far East for three months in her college years with the Asbury College Singing Ambassadors and developed a lifelong love for Korea. Her alto singing voice soared with beauty and poise.

Laura married J. Harold Jones in July of 1966 and they made a welcoming home together for many years in Fredericksburg, VA. Showing hospitality to family, friends, and strangers was a hallmark of her life. Harold and Laura hosted many students, families, and groups through the years, always testifying to their love of the Lord. Laura continued to sing in the choir and serve in church, volunteering with a happy heart and listening ear to others.

Laura worked as an English teacher from 1966-1968 and a registered nurse from 1980-1994. With students, patients, friends, and family, she always testified to God's goodness and grace.

Laura loved her family deeply, with commitment and joy. She communicated and sought to meet needs near and far. She loved Harold with an eternal, Godly love and that extended to all her family.

In recent years, Laura enjoyed her three grandchildren, praying faithfully and beaming with their accomplishments. She enjoyed Bible study and book groups with friends. She never shied from new things seeing each as an adventure to enjoy. She loved pizza, birds coming to the feeder, daisies, warm sunny beach days, her family, and most of all her Savior Jesus.

Laura is preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Lawrence Criscoe and her parents Ralph and Edith Criscoe. She is survived by her husband J. Harold Jones, her sister Margaret Kyzar, her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Kathy Jones, her daughter and son-in-law Greg and Cynthia Anway, and her three grandchildren Christopher Anway, Joseph Anway, and Amelia Jones.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laura's memory to French Camp Academy (www.frenchcamp.org). She had a special place in her heart for their educational ministry.

Funeral services for Laura will be held at Wright-Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton, MS on Tuesday, December 27. Visitation will start at 1:00 and services at 2:00.
