Lamar R. Shumaker, 78 of Pearl, MS passed away on April 17, 2020. He was a native of Philadelphia, MS and attended Neshoba Central High School.
He was baptized n August 17, 1970 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was a very hard worker and homebuilder. He built many homes around the Jackson area and the surrounding suburbs for the last 40 years. He loved being outside. He would get up everyday at 4:30 and would not stop working until it got dark. He loved hunting, fishing and camping.

Lamar was a calm, kind and gentle father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather and loving friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Eddie (Adcock) Shumaker; brother, Sammy Shumaker; son, Bill Brister; and grandson, Zachery Beard.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Velma (Lambert) Shumaker; daughters, Jana Fitts (Paul) of Decatur, AL, Mickie Beard of Pearl, MS, and Bobbie Munns (David) of Southhaven, MS; sons, Ronnie Shumaker of Meridian, MS and Gerry Shumaker (Natanya) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Daphne Foust (Kevin) of Madison, AL, Payton and Morgan Fitts of Decatur, AL, Cody and Caleb Shumaker of Brandon, MS, and Josh Shumaker of Meridian, MS; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Dixie (Billy) Thompson of Pearl, MS; and nephew, Rylan Thompson of Pearl.
