Obituary

Mrs. LaJaune S. "Jaunie" Coleman passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving Family on Monday June 13, 2022, at SummerHouse Beau Ridge Memory Care in Ridgeland.

Jaunie was born to Edger and Mabel Smith in Louisville, MS on September 7, 1928. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years James Melbourn Coleman, and her son James Clifton Coleman.

She is survived by her son, Jay Melbourn Coleman (Betty Lynn) from Madison, MS, her daughter-n-law Beverly Coleman from Clinton, MS, five grandchildren who dearly loved their "Memaw". Conner Coleman (Julie) from Springtown, TX, Dr. Corey Coleman (Jessica) from Birmingham, AL, J. Hunter Coleman (Kelly) from Madison, MS, Mallory Coleman from Clinton, MS and Cameron Coleman (Kristina) from New York NY., along with seven precious great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Mason, William, Harrison, Harper, Elizabeth, and Will Coleman.

Jaunie was a true southern lady, with a servant's heart. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her Family, her Country, and her Friends. Most of her years were spent in Clinton, MS where she raised her family and worked for almost 30 years as the Church Secretary at FBCC. Jaunie loved to cook and bake, and always welcomed friends by the house for a cup of coffee and a piece of her famous cream cheese pound cake. Her baking became a ministry of sorts to many many people throughout the years, as she delivered cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, or just to simply say "have a great day".  Shopping was another thing that Jaunie excelled at, albeit for clothes, her grandchildren, or holiday décor for the house, she did it well. Speaking of holidays, she loved them…. all of them, and had more rabbits, pumpkins, and Santa's than you can even imagine, but always had her home decorated for the occasion.

It takes very special people to care for the elderly, and Jaunie was so fortunate to have these caring individuals in later years of her life. It is with heartfelt gratitude that we thank our "in home" caregivers Audrey Guy, Mary Tillman, Violet Davis, and Wille Meaner Thompson. The Family would also like to thank Debby Gooch, and the entire staff at Summerhouse Beau Ridge Memory Care for their loving care over the last 20 months.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on July 1, 2022 in the Old Sanctuary at First Baptist Church in Clinton. Visitation will be begin at 9 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Clinton Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Mississippi Alzheimer's Association or First Baptist Church - Clinton
