Kirk Ramsay "Jeff" Jeffreys, Jr.

Kirk Ramsay “Jeff” Jeffreys, Jr., 85, of Raymond, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on September 19, 2026. Born July 3, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, Jeff grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and was the son of Kirk Ramsay Jeffreys, Sr. and Jean Jeffreys, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and man of faith whose warmth, humor, kindness, and genuine love for people touched countless lives.

Jeff attended Boyd Elementary School, Bailey Junior High School, and Murrah High School, graduating in 1959. During his years at Murrah, Jeff distinguished himself as a student-athlete and leader. He served as student body president, was named Mr. Murrah High School, and was later inducted into the Murrah High School Hall of Fame. As a track athlete, he set the Mississippi high school state record in the high hurdles, a record that stood for more than 10 years.

Jeff continued both his academic and athletic careers at Mississippi State University, where he played football and ran track. He was an integral member of Mississippi State’s 1962 SEC championship track team, an accomplishment of which he remained particularly proud throughout his life. During his years at Mississippi State, Jeff was also an active and devoted member of Sigma Chi fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships. His love for Sigma Chi became a cherished family tradition that he proudly shared with his sons and grandson.

After Mississippi State, Jeff attended the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and began a successful 20-year career in banking, including time with Deposit Guaranty Bank and the Bank of Yazoo City. He and his family lived in Yazoo City from 1969 until 1983, where Jeff became a valued member of the community.

Jeff later began a successful career with Gulf South Medical Supply, where his strong work ethic, natural ability to connect with people, and dedication to his work earned him numerous national sales awards. He remained with Gulf South until his retirement in 2005.

While Jeff accomplished much professionally, his greatest pride was always his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Mary Nell Hamilton Jeffreys, for 62 years. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, friendship, and countless cherished memories.

Jeff was a devoted father to Kirk Ramsay Jeffreys, III and his wife, Tracey; Brian Norwood Jeffreys and his wife, Jamie; and Charles Porter Jeffreys. He was preceded in death by his son, John Hamilton Jeffreys.

His grandchildren—John Jeffreys, Mary Riels Jeffreys, Ramsay Jeffreys, Jordan Jeffreys, Kameron Jeffreys, Ellie Jeffreys, and Porter Jeffreys—were his pride and joy. Jeff treasured every opportunity to attend their activities and be involved in their lives. His grandchildren knew they were deeply loved, and they will forever carry the memories of his encouragement, humor, and unwavering support.

Jeff is also survived by his sisters and brother: Dianne Underwood and her husband, Jimmy; Susan Triplett and her husband, Chip; Steven Jeffreys; and Jan Stinson and her husband, Jon, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jeff’s faith was an important foundation of his life. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Raymond, where his faith and relationships within the church community were deeply meaningful to him.

Those who knew Jeff will remember his great sense of humor, strong work ethic, kindness, and remarkable ability to make friends. He loved people and had a gift for making those around him feel welcome. He enjoyed golf and following Mississippi State sports, but above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Jeff lived a life defined not simply by what he accomplished, but by the people he loved and the lives he touched. He treasured his family deeply, took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to celebrate the people who mattered most to him. His laughter, generosity, faith, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Jeff’s hospice caregivers for the compassionate care, comfort, and support they provided to Jeff and his family.

Services: Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 9:30–11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church Raymond, with Reverend Mark Strum officiating. Graveside services will follow at Raymond Cemetery.
