Kathleen Corrigan Payment, age 87, of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on June 24, 2023.

Kathleen was born in Dublin, Ireland on August 30,1935 to the late James and Catherine Corrigan.

She moved to the United States in 1954 to marry Philip Payment and began her life in America. A big family was important to her, and she proceeded to have seven children. Kathleen raised her children while volunteering at the parish church and school. She was part of the group that started Saint Therese parish. She led the choir and many fundraisers. She had a button made for her fundraising efforts, "Official Church Beggar," that helped her raise more funds for church events such as Saint Therese's Annual Turkey Dinner.

After Kathleen raised her children, she earned an associate degree and a nursing degree. She worked as a nurse for over twenty years at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.

Kathleen loved spending time with family. She had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother and prayed the Rosary for family and friends. She also loved her Irish roots and was often heard sharing Irish sayings and stories.

Kathleen is survived by her sons: Philip Harold Payment, Jr., and wife, Lisa, of Florence, SC; Michael Francis Payment, of  Pass Christian, MS; David Peter Payment, and wife, Mary Ann, of Acworth, GA; Stephen James Payment, of Powder Springs, GA; Jeffery Patrick Payment, and wife, Darlene, of Clinton, MS; Gregory Andrew Payment, of Biloxi, MS; and her daughter, Ann Marie Payment, of Pass Christian, MS. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Philip H. Payment, III, Heather Lynn Payment, Kevin Patrick Payment, Jenny Alexis Payment, Matthew Stephen Payment, Mackenzie LeAnn Payment, Anthony Wade Payment, and Kaylee Elisha Payment. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Sawyer Elena Young.

Kathleen is also survived by her sister, Marie Corrigan Reid, of Dublin, Ireland.

In accordance with Kathleen's wishes, her body has been donated to Mississippi Medical Center. Family visitation will be Saturday, July 8, at St. Richards Catholic Church, 1242 Lynwood Dr., Jackson MS, at 11:00 a.m. and Mass to follow at 12:00 p.m.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00pm in the parish Foley Center.
