June C. Harris, 78, of Clinton, MS went to her eternal home on Monday September, 15, 2014 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Thursday at 11:00 AM.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce K. Harris a daughter, Brooxye Lynn Sessums, whose life was taken by cystic fibrosis two sisters, Iva Cliburn Hammack and Fae Cliburn White and a nephew, Michael Hammack. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah S. Deen of Clinton, MS two grandsons, Andy Deen and his wife Keli of Wesson, MS and Aaron Deen of Terry, MS one step grandson, Jason Deen and his wife Tina of Wesson, MS a nephew, Ronnie White of Antioch, TN and her beloved special friend and caregiver, Felita Franklin.
June and husband Bruce each had long and successful careers while also heavily involved, as a team, with the work and ministry of their favorite charities. June was a pioneer in raising funds to promote research for a cure to cystic fibrosis and is recognized as the Founder of the Mississippi Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
June and Bruce moved their church membership to First Baptist Church of Clinton on June 20, 1964 and were faithful and supportive members, often serving in leadership roles until health issues restricted their activities.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1907 Dunbarton Drive, Suite C, Jackson, MS 39216 or to the Bruce and June Harris Endowed Fund at First Baptist Church, 100 E. College Street, Clinton, MS 39056.
