Joye Eloise McCormick, 97, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM followed by funeral services all at Wright and Ferguson in Clinton. The burial will be at 3:00 PM in Hickory Cemetery, Hickory, MS.
The daughter of the late Rufus Benton and Ruth Massengill Moulds, Mrs. McCormick was born on the family farm in Rose Hill, MS. She was a long time resident of Hickory, MS and always considered that to be her home. She was a member of the Hickory Baptist Church and, with her husband, ran a general store called McCormick Shopping Center. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing meals with the family she loved. She was passionate about her flowers and spending time outside. Along with her contagious laugh and smile she will be missed for her witty sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Gilmore "Doc" McCormick, Sr. and her son, Clarence Gilmore "Doc, Jr." McCormick. Her survivors include twin daughters, Sharon Kay McCormick Papania and her husband Ken of Ocean Springs, MS; and Caron Marie McCormick Ballard and her husband John of Clinton, MS; as well as six grandchildren and five great grandchildren with two more on the way.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hickory Baptist Church, 197 Jackson Street, Hickory, MS 39332.
