Joyce Bain Purvis, 88, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with visitation beginning at 1:30. Graveside services will follow at Hinds Independent Methodist Church in Raymond.

Joyce was born on July 6, 1929 to Hilda Bell and Otis Howard Bain in Kosciusko, MS. She graduated from Holmes Jr. College, Mississippi State University, and Masters from MC. She taught elementary school for many years, mainly 4th grade. She married William Sidney Purvis on March 31, 1956. She and Bill were members of HIMC for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Charlotte Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years; daughters, Kathy English and Karen Sanders; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and her brother, Otis Howard Bain.
