Joyce Johnson, a resident of Clinton, MS, passed away at the age of 77 on July 16, 2021, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson MS. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm – 7:30pm Tuesday, July 21, 2021 and from 10:00am – 11:00am Wednesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, Clinton, MS with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00am.

She was born on April 20, 1944 and grew up in Vicksburg, MS where she graduated at Jett High School. She attended Hinds Community College, Raymond, MS where she met her husband of over 57 years; Ken Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her parents and adopted parents, mother, Wilma Raines Bankhead of Vicksburg, and father, Cecil L. Bankhead and adopted parents, Johnnie R Hill, and Jeffrey L. Hill, of Vicksburg, MS; sister, Peggy E. Durham, The Woodlands, TX.

Survivors include her husband, Ken Johnson, of Clinton, MS; sister, Patricia Corbitt, of Tinton Falls NJ; sons, Jamie Johnson, of Brandon, MS, Kevin Johnson (Kimberly), of Brandon, MS and Jeffrey Johnson (Sara) of Flowood, MS; 9 grandchildren, Morgan Johnson, Kyler Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Brady Johnson, Keaton Johnson, Brayden Johnson, Landon Johnson, Kinsley Johnson, and Jake Johnson.

Throughout her life she was an amazing southern lady, a wife, mother, community leader and everyone who knew her loved her. She instilled in her children a love for their heritage, the importance of family, the price of freedom, and above all, God in their lives. She was a Christian.

She traveled and supported her husband as the wife of a national Vice President of the US Jaycees. An adamant baseball mom, she enjoyed the many baseball games she attended of her sons and grandsons.
In her business career she owned and operated "Happy Days Child Nursery" in Clinton for years. Later she joined the Ralston Purina Co. regional office as customer service director for many years. ln 1984, she joined J Ken Johnson CLU and associates insurance in client services, and office manager.
