Joseph Warren Wright, Sr. 89, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his home in the care of his family. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 all on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Christ United Methodist Church.
Warren was born August 23, 1925 in Jackson the seventh child of the late Ellis W. and Elvira Gerlach Wright. He attended Central High School, Millsaps College and served his country during World War II as a tail gunner on a B-17 fighter plane in the USAF. A prominent Jacksonian and businessman, Warren opened Warren Wright's House of Ideas in 1961. He was a long time Gideon, a member of the Lion's Club, a Hinds County Deputy Sheriff, and he was appointed to Colonel and Aide-de-Camp under Governor John Bell Williams. As a member of Christ United Methodist Church, he attended the New Yorkers Sunday school class.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, all of his brothers & sisters, his wife of 66 years, Jean Fain Wright and his grandson, Joseph Warren Wright, III. He is survived by his son, Joseph Warren Wright, Jr and his wife Synthia; his grandchildren, William Cory Wright and his wife Elena; Laura Beth Wright and Brittany Paige Wright.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff at the Baptist Hospital and the Hospice Home Advantage staff for the wonderful care shown to the Wright family.
