Johnny Lamar Neese, who was a resident of Raymond, Mississippi, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2018. Johnny was born on December 28, 1961 in Dallas, Texas to Rev. Jack Lamar and Patricia Ann Neese. Johnny lived in Mississippi, Alabama, and Maryland before moving back to Mississippi as an adult.
Big John loved everyone, judged no one, and hugged everybody. He was often the host to anyone who needed a friend and his huge smile and deep belly laugh would be sure to lift anyone's spirits. He shared not only his love, but also his talents. Many people cherish a wooden cross or some other memento that Big John carved, wrote and drew for them. He also shared his voice many nights at karaoke at Joe's, but most importantly he made sure all around him knew that he loved them and that God loved them. Johnny shared Jesus wherever he went by sharing love. Uncle Johnny loved his nephews and nieces and they all loved him. Everyone should have an uncle that can give Big John hugs.
Johnny (Big John), oldest child of Jack and Patricia, is survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Neese Welshans (Robert), brothers and sisters, Jackie Moody (Brooks), Stephen Neese (Kathy), Regina Gwathmey (Michael), brother-in-law, John Pohlhaus (Christine), foster sisters, Heather Fitzgerald, Sarah Dudley, nieces and nephews, Christopher (Kerri), MaryLynne (John), Jessica (Yutaro), Stephen (Stacey), Patricia, Marcia, Nathan, Katie, Theodore, 7 grandnieces and nephews, several aunt and uncles, many cousins and countless friends.
Johnny was predeceased by his grandparents, Oscar and Susan Neese and Rufus and Martha Nixon, father, Jack Lamar Neese, sister, Pamela Pilgrim Neese, foster sister Anne Marie Waldon, foster nephew, David Waldon, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Johnny's passing came as a surprise to us all because of his brave and strong spirit. He never complained. Instead, he promised, "I'm Big John, I'm always good."
We would like to thank all the friends and family that have been supportive. Thank you for your love and prayers. Johnny recently told his beloved niece that his love was big enough to talk to anyone in the world, at any time- no matter how far apart they were. He said, "If you ever think about me suddenly for no reason, that's because I'm telling you from far away that I love you." While we may not be able to share his warm hugs, we pray that you all will continue to feel his love and hear his voice beyond the grave.
