Obituary

John (Pops) Stephen Woodard, 76, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus on June 26th, 2016. Devoted and loving husband of Rhoda Roxanna Woodard. Cherished and loving father of Cynthia (Cindy) Woodard, Timothy (Tim) Scott and Pennie Woodard, and Daniel (Dan) John and Elena Woodard, and Christopher (Biskit) Jay and Jenny Woodard. Adored and loving grandfather of Kristen, Jenna, Janie, Chelsea, and Jonathan. Treasured and loving great-grandfather of Liam, Maddie, and Jenley.

John was born in Escanaba, MI on June 19, 1940. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958-1964 where he received the Good Conduct Medal. John retired from the West Bend Company in 1990 after 25+ years. Soon after, John and Rhoda made their retirement dreams come true when they built and established their home "A Bit of Heaven." John was a devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. John was the heart and strength of his family here on earth and now he is watching over his family from heaven until they are all together again. We are all deeply grateful for the love, guidance, support, and generosity that he blessed us with every day. We will miss you Pops - you are forever in our hearts.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 4th, 2016. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1799 Clinton Raymond Rd., Clinton, MS 39056.

"When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, but now it's time I traveled alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me call and I will come, though you can't see me I'll be there. And if you listen with your heart you'll hear, all of my love around you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and welcome you home."
