John Robert "Bob" Whitfield, 85, of Madison, MS, passed away on October 14, 2021 after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Bob was born on December 1, 1935 to Robert Demar and Vera Roach Whitfield in Harlingen, TX. After graduating from Forest Hill High school, he went on to study architectural engineering at Mississippi State University.
After graduating college, he went to work for a local steel company and later created his own steel company that he was passionate about. He was also a National Guard military Veteran of 36 years and had many accomplishments including 15 years as a helicopter pilot. He also obtained many medals including National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, AR Component Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal amongst others.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kim Rees and a brother, Henry Whitfield. He is survived by his wife Carrline Sue Holt Whitfield, his 4 daughters, Candy Jeffrey, (TJ), Pam Angelle (Sid), Karen Davidson (Brian) and Kim Carter (Jimmy) and his 9 grandchildren, Nathan, Remington, Hallie, Cayman, Christian, Gabrielle, Bailey, Brennon and Tyler.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm on Monday October 18 at the Pavilion in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery.
