Rev. John Thomas Tucker passed from this life on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 1:46 a.m. John's life will be celebrated in a graveside service on June 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakewood Memorial Park Pavillion in Clinton, MS.
John was born on February 1, 1949, to Mae Winstead Tucker and John Robert Tucker in Jackson, MS. John grew up in Jackson, MS and attended the Mississippi School of the Blind. John graduated from Provine High School. He would go on to Hinds Community College and then Mississippi College where he received a Bachelor's in history. He then attended Emory University where he received a Master's of Divinity. John began serving the Mississippi United Methodist Church in 1980 and preached around the state until 1998. He loved people, and he loved serving his churches. Throughout John's career, he always tried to take part in social clubs such as Lion's Clubs and Civitan Clubs. He enjoyed eating and fellowshipping with others.
He had a special zest for life. He could put people at ease with his deep voice and his sense of humor. He may have been considered legally blind, but John had a way of seeing people in spite of his physical handicap. He loved to watch sports, exercise, and be outdoors. John loved his family. He and his wife Pamela Lee Tucker were married for forty-nine years. They shared two children Kristin and Jeremy. John loved his children's spouses Hank and Brandy and their children John Henry and Savannah. He will be greatly missed by his family.
