John Anthony
Lawson
March 14, 1940 – July 3, 2023
John A. Lawson, 83, passed away peacefully at St. Dominic's Hospital on July 3, 2023 with his beloved wife, Eileen, holding his hand.
John is survived by his Eileen, his wife of 55 years, brother Bernard Lawson, sister Angela Bell both of England and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Maude Lawson also of England.
John was born March 13, 1940 in Cobridge, England. He was a Potter by trade and worked for many of the well-known ceramic manufacturers in Europe including Wedgewood. John would make the initial pieces of a particular design and the mold for further production would be made from his work. He was a very talented artist.
A job at a ceramic factory brought him to Ireland where he met Eileen. The year after they married, he was sent to America to a ceramic factory for three years. The plan was to come to America, save their money and return to England to buy a house. Over the next three decades, they would go back and forth to jobs in America and England. Eventually a job with Gail Pittman Pottery brought them to Mississippi where they settled.
As Eileen would say, as long as John is in his recliner with his remote watching, golf he is happy. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Flowood on Friday, July 7 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. A Mass of Remembrance will be held following at 10:00 am.
