Obituary

Jodie Annette Nelson, 49, of Brownsville, MS, arrived in the arms of Christ in the presence of her loving family on Monday, August 16, 2021.

Jodie is survived by her husband Reed Nelson, her children: Jenni Vaughn, Jake Nelson, J.T Phillips, and Maddie Phillips, and her grandchildren: Jane Kratochvil and Graham Vaughn. She is also survived by her Parents Charlotte Denson and Charles Denson, her maternal Grandmaw Ruth Putnam, her Brother Chuck Denson, her Sister and brother-in-law Donna and Brad Baker, and her niece and nephews: Jack, Molly, Banks, and Wyatt, as well as her three cats: O.T., Cali, and Ritz. She was also survived by her godparents, RR "Tiny" and Jean Hallman as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Grandmaw Taylor and Papaw Charles Henry Denson, and her granddaughter Norah Kate.

Jodie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend who spread positivity and joy to everyone she met. She was a passionate teacher at Beechwood Elementary who loved every student that stepped through her door. She devoted not only her time in the classroom to her students, but time spent out of the school as well. She had a fiery passion for one of her alma-maters, Mississippi State University.

Jodie had a creative mind and was an avid painter, photographer, and percussionist in her youth. She seized every opportunity to take pictures of her family and the outdoors. She loved the beach, sunsets, bow hunting, and long rides through the countryside.

She was the life of the party, the light in a dark room, and always there for whoever needed her. Jodie Nelson was an amazing woman who will be missed by many, and whose memory will be cherished by those she held dear.

"Her hair is Harlow gold
Her lips a sweet surprise
Her hands are never cold
She's got Bette Davis eyes"

"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'" Proverbs 31:28-29
