Joan Frances Taylor, a beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away on January 03, 2025, at home. Joan was born on March 9, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi and was age 83 at the time of her passing.

Joan graduated from Millsaps College in 1988 and earned her CPA license in 1993. Joan dedicated her career to working with the US Department of Agriculture, and retired in 2011 in Rio Ranch, New Mexico from US Forest Service.

Joan is survived by her husband, James H. Taylor; her children, Kimberly Cassidy Shearer, Beau Michael Cassidy, and Robin Elaine Jewell; her sister, Patricia Ann Hilkert; nephew, Christopher A. Hilkert, and 5 grandchildren, Austin T. Shearer, Cameron W. Shearer, Cassidy R. Shearer, Charleigh Cassidy, and Bexleigh Cassidy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Floyd Jones, and her son Peter James Cassidy.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on January 25, 2025, at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local chapter of the ASPCA, honoring Joan's lifelong dedication to all pets in need.

Joan's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to public service will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
