Mrs. Joan Warshaw Rome passed on Saturday, February 20, 2021 after a lengthy illness. She was 85.
Joan was born on January 13, 1936 in New York, New York. Her parents were Phillip Paul and Florence Stein Warshaw. She lived in New York until 1946, at which time her parents moved the family to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Joan married Sidney Joseph Rome on June 6, 1953 and lived in New Orleans until their move to Slidell, Louisiana in 1970. They were married for 59 years. They raised three children. She lived in Slidell for 44 years before moving to Clinton, Mississippi in 2014. Her final residence was the Holmes County Long Distance Care Center, Durant, Mississippi.
Joan belonged to Calvary Baptist Church in Slidell, Louisiana and was a member of a Ladies Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Clinton First United Methodist Church in Clinton, Mississippi where she was a member of the Raspberry Sunday School Class and the Naomi Circle of United Methodist Women.
Joan was also a member of the Eastern Star. She belonged to a sewing circle and a garden club. Joan loved to travel and entertain friends and family.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Florence Warshaw, and by her husband, Sidney J. Rome.
Joan is survived by her children: Cheryl Rome Bankston, (Kenneth) of Clinton, MS; Sidney Joseph Rome, Jr., (Michele) of Slidell, LA; and Dana Rome Brewer of Mobile, AL. Also, her grandchildren: Lesli Bankston Strong, (Allen); Erica Rome Hare; Candice Olinde McClellan, (Stephen); Rebecca Brewer Willerton, (Craig); and Sara Elizabeth Bankston; as well as her great-grandchildren: Michael, Dayla, and Sydney. Joan is also survived by her brother, Jules E. Warshaw of Slidell, LA. Plus a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021; with visitation starting at 9:00AM and the service starting at 11:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church, Slidell, Louisiana.
