Obituary

Jimmy Royce Wilkins, 84, passed away at his home in Brandon on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at First Baptist Church Fannin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Jimmy will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Dr. Ron Bird will officiate the service and attending pallbearers are Mike Wilkins, Greg Wilkins, Robby Pettus, Steve McBrayer, Chris McBrayer, Keith McBrayer and Sam Morgan.

Jimmy was born in Kemper County, MS on Tuesday, February 14, 1939 to the late Julia Hicks Wilkins and James Murdock Wilkins. He was a member of First Baptist Church Fannin and enjoyed hunting, fishing and most all sports. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and father-in-law. He retired in 1993 after more than 30 years of service in law enforcement. In his retirement he enjoyed the occasional trips to Pelahatchie Bay for coffee.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; son, Russell Royce Wilkins; brothers, Dean and Leon Wilkins; and sister, Dorothy Rose Hill.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Shepard Wilkins; brother, Wayne Wilkins (Carolyn); daughter-in-law, Christian Wilkins; grandsons, Jonathan Wilkins (Lindsey) and Justin Wilkins (Rebecca); great granddaughter, Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
